Agroforestry, as a livelihood support option, requires a basic understanding of the landscape (PaLA), the drivers of land use changes (DriLUC), and poverty perceptions (PAPOLD), followed by the strength and weaknesses of the existing agroforestry systems (RAFT), the market (RMA) linked to profitability (PAM) and issues of land tenure (RaTA).
Specifically, the prospects for new agroforestry technology can depend on the tree-soil-crop interactions (WaNuLCAS), mixed-tree stands (SExI-FS and SLIM), constrain analysis (WNoTree) and adopt & learn analysis with the support from agroforestry tree and seed supply, analysis of land use change (ALUCT), landscape scenarios and baselines (FALLOW) and Local Ecological knowledge (LEK).
