Florence Muchori

Florence, GIS Tecnhician at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF). She is involved in GIS work and technical support services in the Decision Support System (DSS) laboratory. She is also involved in the training of collaborators and students on internship on the use of automated digitizing techniques.

Currently she is involved in a project on Land cover Monitoring System for Impact Evaluation of Agroforestry Interventions in Southwest Uganda. This baseline assessment of vegetation cover and current status of landuse and the environment will form a baseline by which a variety of proposed and planned interventions will be monitored.  This assessment will be undertaken by using colour aerial photography (by Photomap) validated with extensive ground surveys.

Before joining World Agroforestry Centre, she worked as a graduate surveyor and GIS technician with Geometer Survey Limited. She did her internship on the Practice of GIS at the Department of Resource Survey and Remote Sensing (DRSRS) in Nairobi, Kenya. 

Florence holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Surveying and Photogrammetry from the University of Nairobi. 

Special skills and research interests:
Digital map production, landuse/landcover change analysis using GIS and RS, and environmental planning and management.
