Dr
Walsh conducts research on the effects of land management on land
degradation processes and watershed biogeochemistry in
eastern and southern Africa. He is based is in Kisumu, Kenya where
he is assessing the historical and spatial dynamics of
land-use change and the implications on the
Lake Victoria ecosystem.
Dr Walsh
has a PhD in rangeland ecology from Texas A&M University
(USA), and bachelor degrees in animal science and agricultural
mechanization from Iowa State university. Before joining
Icraf he was a research associate with department of rangeland
Ecology and management at Texas A&M University.He has
worked extensively in many parts of Africa, the United States
and Australia.

Research interests:
Biogeochemistry of
land use change, landscape historical ecology.
