The Congress generated many substantial outcomes including the declaration, alliances, partnerships and policies.
Congress Declaration
Outlining the common interests and desires of participants, the Congress declaration affirms the social, economic, cultural, ecological and environmental benefits of agroforestry. It calls for vigorous policy, research and development measures to raise the profile of agroforestry.
Congress Highlights publication
This publication summarizes the highlights of the Congress, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, presentations under each of the three themes, symposia and other significant outcomes.
Special issue publications
We have been encouraging session organisers to pursue articles in relevant journals to disseminate important research findings presented at the Congress. P.K. Nair, Co-Chair of the Global Organizing Committee has approached a number of publishers to explore opportunities for special issue journals and books to publish papers and synthesis reports from the Congress.
Agroforestry Policy Initiative
Kick-started at the Congress, the Agroforestry Policy Initiative recognises that conducive policy environments are vital to the adoption of agroforestry and policy is too often a constraint. The initiative draws on successes and global interest in agroforestry as well as emerging opportunities, such as in the area of climate change.
