The GenRiver model was developed into two different plat platform, STELLA and NetLogo
STELLA Platform
The STELLA version is accompanied by an excel file where you can place your input parameters.
To run the model under STELLA version you have three options:
- demo version of Stella
- Commercial Run Time
- Stella Research or Non-Research, version 9 or above..
These three options will allow you (progressively to):
- run the model but not save you results,
- run the model and save results,
- run and modify the model and save results.
If you open GenRiver, you will see some explanatory text and a number of buttons that allow you to run the model, set a number of key parameters (by moving sliders) and look at the output via some direct screen output, a stack of graphs and tables.
NetLogo Platform
The basic needs to run the GenRiver model under NetLogo are:
- NetLogo
4.0.2 (recommended) and Java
- MS
Excel
Preparing input data:
1. Execute “Genriver_NetLogo.xls” using MS
Excel.
2. Input the data follow the format page in
each page.
3. After input/edit data in each page, click
‘Save’ button. Then clik ‘Next’ button for go to the next page.
4. In the last page, input the file names of
data input that required by the model for one scenario. Then click ‘Save’
button for save the scenario.
Run the model:
1. Execute Genriver.nlogo using NetLogo
2. Set the running control parameters in the
model interface
3. Press the “setup” button.
4. Then, press the “go” button.
Output:
If you want to store
the simulation result, you can open it using MS Excel. Select the file name from your working
directory. The file has the extension
*.out.
