The purpose of volunteering at ICRAF is to provide opportunities to young individuals regardless of gender, race and ethnicity, to contribute towards the organization’s research and development agenda.

Volunteers are young people who want to work without any compensation to gain knowledge and experience. In addition, one or more ICRAF supervisors should consider them well qualified to contribute to their programmatic activities.

Volunteers can be deployed for a duration of 2 weeks to 3 months. All necessary costs (initial and daily travel to and from ICRAF offices, insurance, subsistence and accommodation) will be borne by the individual.

Volunteers can also work remotely, depending on the agreement with the supervisor and requirements of the assignment. Volunteer agreements can be renewed once for a maximum duration of 3 months. Expected final output is an attachment report describing activities performed and learning achieved by the individual.

These opportunities are international and thus young individuals from both developing and developed countries are encouraged to apply. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

If interested, please submit an online application in English through the Student Management Information System.
