The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
ICRAF in Bangladesh works on development and up-scaling of agroforestry systems and practices for better livelihoods of rural households, with emphasis on terrace and coastal ecosystems. Current research programmes include:
- Development of multi-storeyed agroforestry systems
- Development of fruit tree-based agroforestry systems in moderately saline zones
- Improvement of yield and quality of minor fruits
ICRAF’s liaison office is located in the Department of Agroforestry and Environment, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur.
