Qualifications and experience: Fabrice Pinard got a PhD in Plant Pathology in 1989 (Paris University) and since then, he has been working overseas (India, French Guyana, East Africa). A research fellow from CIRAD (Centre International de Recherche en Agronomie pour le Developpement – France) since 1993, he has been working on coffee for the last ten years. Currently based at Nairobi, Kenya, he is in charge of developing a strategic partnership between CIRAD and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) about coffee agroforestry. Various activities are developed under this collaboration, where he is in charge of the coffee aspect. More specifically, F. Pinard is currently involved in socio-economic studies to assess the efficiency of the coffee value chains in Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, Coffee Quality characterization and promotion, and coffee disease studies. As a CIRAD and ICRAF staff, he is currently coordinating two research projects CAFNET (EU) and Shade Coffee project in Rwanda (ACDI VOCA, USAID).
