Agroforestry: Strengthening links between science, society and policy
The 4th World Congress on Agroforestry will bring delegates and world-known keynote speakers from all over the world in a major event designed to address a wide range of key agroforestry research issues. It will gather facts and figures from developing and developed countries and support a collaborative effort with broad social participation. Special attention will be given to vulnerable countries and populations.
The French-based agricultural research institutes of CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Center for International Development) and INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research) will host the Congress which will take place in Montpellier, France, from 19-22 May 2019.
Following the 3rd World Congress on Agroforestry 2014, held in Delhi, India the Congress will raise the local, regional and global profile of agroforestry and significantly increase awareness, support, engagement and investment. It will create a deliberate and tangible legacy in terms of recognition, partnerships, investments and impact, and produce a global roadmap for agroforestry with clear targets. The overall objective of the Congress is to contribute to the strengthening of agroforestry science and practice in order to provide opportunities for strengthening links between science, society and policy and to bridge the science-policy gap.
Since 2009, the World Agroforestry Centre has led the Congress in partnership with host country governments and institutions.
