The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
ICRAF-Bohol along with the Bohol Initiators for Sustainable Agriculture Development (BISAD) participated in a one-month exhibit at the Tagbilaran City Hall Compound, Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City on July 1-31, 2006. The Provincial Government of Bohol organized the exhibit as part of its annual Sandugo Festival - a festival that commemorates the first blood compact treaty between Spain and Philippines.
The exhibit aims to showcase the different initiatives both by Government Agencies and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), from the coastal to the upland effort of promoting human and environmental development in the province of Bohol. It also provides an opportunity for development stakeholders to promote their programs and technologies, and be recognized for their work.
ICRAF, in a team effort with other upland development NGOs, put up miniature contour farms showcasing agroforestry systems as their primary exhibit. Aside from displaying state-of-the-art information on agroforestry, the activity also allowed a venue for exchange between upland development practitioners, researchers and frontline extension agents.
Meanwhile, the Tree Seed Systems in Communities (TSSC) project conducted the second batch of fruit tree Seed Production Area (SPA) establishment in the Municipality of San Isidro, Bohol on July 2006. The activity is part of the TSSC's major objective of providing quality-planting stock to the farmers in the municipality. The pioneering batch of fruit tree seedlings planted in the SPA were purchased from the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) in Davao.
The TSSC Project is supported by the Agencia Española de Cooperacion Internacional (AECI), and is currently implemented in the Central and Southern Philippines.
