Southern and Eastern Africa Rainwater Network -15th SearNet International Conference
The Southern and Eastern Africa Rainwater Network (SearNet) hosted at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Nairobi organizes annual conferences at which key stakeholders within and outside Africa convene to share knowledge and experiences on rainwater harvesting. The rationale of organizing the conference is based on the premise that rainwater harvesting and management (RWH) technology is one of the options that can enable sub-Saharan Africa strive towards meeting the MDGs and develop sustainable coping strategies. This is done to mitigate the impacts of ensuing climate change and environmental degradation.
The last conference, the 14th one, was held in November 2011 in South Africa. This year’s conference with the theme ‘Financing Rainwater Harvesting Interventions for Scaling-up Climate Change Mitigation in the Dry Lands’ will be held in Nairobi and Naivasha, Kenya from the 4th to the 9th of November.
