PAAP receives funds from IDRC
The African Highlands Initiative (AHI) and the ASARECA based project on policy and advocacy, PAAP along with other national agricultural partners in Uganda and Ethiopia received funds from IDRC to scale up integrated NRM innovations for sustainable agricultural productivity and food security in the highlands of eastern Africa through the Landcare approach. The four year project is aimed at improving the adaptive capacity of local communities in addressing natural resource issues while building their resilience against climate change effects. This will be done by identifying and promoting appropriate strategies to accelerate the uptake of successful natural resources management innovations (technologies, institutional options, approaches and tools) that have been tested in pilot sites, by more farmers over wider geographic areas in Uganda and Ethiopia. It is designed to operate as a partnership between National Agricultural Research Services (NARS), AHI, ASARECA, IDRC and Local Governments in four districts: two in Ethiopia (Dendi and Were Jarso) and two in Uganda (Kapchorwa and Bukwo).
