The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
Although it is in the nature of research to achieve results only towards the end of a project, much has already happened within FoodAfrica. This became evident at the midterm seminar in Helsinki in June, where the first results were presented and discussed. The seminar was a milestone for the Programme as it reached a wide group of stakeholders who gave very positive feedback and proved that we are on the right track. This gives us the needed motivation to continue work after the few weeks of summer Finland has to offer. The coming autumn will be an interesting one, as there will be a midterm review of the Programme. This is a welcome opportunity to get advice and suggestions from experts with a slightly different perspective on the Programme. We in the Management Team look forward to an active dialogue with the evaluation team and hope the WP teams in the field will also contribute to this important exercise. Sharing ideas is always valuable! -Mila Sell, FoodAfrica Programme Coordinator
