An East African Landcare Master Class is being planned for March 2012. The class will involve key people from existing Landcare activities in East Africa as well as engage new partners who could assist in building sustainable country Landcare programmes in the region. The Crawford Fund has agreed to support a number of skilled Landcare trainers to travel from Australia to teach part of the class and prepare training materials that can be used for future African Landcare Master Class’s.in building sustainable country Landcare programmesrd in the region.
The Thiess International and Australian Riverprizes are awarded for excellence in river management, and are the world’s most prestigious environmental prizes. Since 1999, RiverFoundation has awarded over AU$2.75 million in Riverprize awards with funds being invested in reviving the world's rivers.
The latest issue of the Victorian Landcare and Catchment Management magazine features a variety of stories about sustainability and Landcare, including a story on how Virginia's (USA) two Landcare groups are at the forefront of efforts to promote sustainable practices among their communities. LI is proud to announce that it will co-sponsor a Landcare side event at the upcoming United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Conference of Parties 10 (COP 10). The COP is in the Republic of Korea in October this year.
NZ Landcare Trust will host a 2-day conference starting 29th February 2012 at the Academy of Performing Arts, University of Waikato Campus, Hamilton, New Zealand. The event will celebrate the work of numerous Landcare Groups from all around New Zealand and provide an opportunity to explore the role that communities play in sustainable land and water management. The conference will include keynote and workshop sessions, Landcare Group presentations, a celebration meal, and optional field trips.
The 5th World Congress of Conservation Agriculture (WCCA) incorporating 3rd Farming System Design Conference will be held this year in Brisbane, 26 - 29 September. The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss current and future developments of sustainable agriculture and explore the application of conservation agriculture practices and principles in a systems context. Landcare is one of the conference sub-themes with a workshop advertised to look at the success of Landcare and its adoption across the world. Dr.
