Sustainable Land Management Officer position advertised through the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) programme in Australia to work on Landcare in East Africa.

Assignment Summary:
The AYAD will be involved in building the capacity of community landcare groups in East Africa and building landcare facilitation capacity within the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF). In particular the AYAD will assist in developing capacity building tools for use in farming community groups in the development of sustainable land management practices. The AYAD will also offer support and training to community-level groups to enable them to conduct income generating activities. The AYAD will coordinate partnerships and value-add amongst farmer groups, and establish networks amongst community groups to assist in the development of innovation platforms. The AYAD will work with other diverse groups including youth in schools to facilitate capacity building in Evergreen Agriculture. The position will involve travel to visit community groups but will be primarily office-based.

Essential Minimum Qualifications required by the AYAD:
• Bachelor of Environmental Science, Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture or related field

Essential Minimum Experience required by the AYAD:
• One year of work experience in sustainable natural resource management
• Experience working with community groups
• Experience in group facilitation

Desirables:
• Experience working with landcare projects
• Training experience
• Experience in project coordination and management
