Knowledge Sharing Workshop
.
After two years of search, research and support in West Aceh and surrounding regions, World Agroforestry Centre – ICRAF Indonesia and partners have gathered ample information and knowledge on the recovery process, impact of tsunami on local livelihoods, natural resources including fishing, soils and tree crops, and potential opportunities for rapid development in the region. ICRAF and partners (Indonesian Research Institute for Estate Crops (LRPI), Indonesian Soil Research Institute (ISRI), World Fish Centre, and Indonesian Research Institute for Animal Production) organized a one-day meeting in Meulaboh on 30 November to share some research results, progress, and observations in post-Tsunami Aceh related to livelihood recovery and NRM issues.
.

Meeting objectives were:

  1. Report two years of ICRAF and partner activities in the post-Tsunami recovery in Aceh.

  2. Share relevant research results and acquired knowledge related to post-Tsunami recovery and livelihood aspects with HARMONICA members and other concerned agencies.

  3. Gather feedback for the direction of future activities.

  4. Develop and discuss ideas to incorporate new information and knowledge in on-going and new development initiatives in Aceh Barat and the surrounding districts.

In the workshop, ICRAF and partners presented 16 topics of research bulletin that were synthesized into four topics as the following
