ICRAF is recruiting a Researcher

The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is an autonomous, non-profit international research organization supported by the Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research (CGIAR). ICRAF's mission is to improve human welfare and enhance environmental resilience in the tropics, through improved agroforestry systems.

BASIC PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Philippine Country Coordinator, the Researcher will implement activities related to the documentation and development of agroforestry farming systems adapted to extreme climate events in Southeast Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document and analyze different indigenous agroforestry systems that farmers use in areas prone to extreme climatic events in the Philippines
  • Work with stakeholders to design agroforestry systems that has improved capacity to cope with extreme climatic events
  • Write journal articles based on the research outputs of the project
  • Write policy brief and research paper on strengths and weaknesses of agroforestry systems documented
  • Design and conduct training on agroforestry systems with improved capacity to cope with extreme climatic events
  • Assist in the preparation of progress and final reports of the project
  • Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Country Coordinator

Duration: Initially for 3 months but is renewable

Qualifications:

  • College degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Economics and related fields. Masters degree is an advantage
  • Excellent communication (oral & written) skills
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision
  • Good technical/scientific writing skills will be an advantage
  • Fit to travel and do field work
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in computer modelling and GIS and advantage
