Diah Wulandari. Report is summarised from SEA Tales Vol 1, No. 8, September 2008
Under the TUL-SEA Project, ICRAF and KKI WARSI (a local NGO in Jambi Province) collaborated to conduct the second in-country training of trainers in Muarabungo, Jambi, Indonesia from 19-22 August 2008.
The objective was to enable local resource managers to use Rapid Agro-Biodiversity Appraisal (RABA) and Rapid Market Appraisal (RMA) as tools to analyse the impacts of changes in market access or agroforestry technology that could offer future solutions in multi-use landscapes. It was also an opportunity to establish and coordinate the national team for project planning to test RABA and RMA for trade-off analyses in a wide range of agroforestry contexts in Indonesia.
The training program was held in three steps: (a) discussion and sharing experiences in integrated natural resource management; (b) field visit; and, (c) analysis and data interpretation.
Participants from government agencies, NGOs, universities, and training centres or research institutions took part. Participants were expected to learn how to apply the integrated toolbox RABA and RMA to various conditions of land use systems at a landscape-level, and analyse the impact of changes in market access or agroforestry technology.
