Training on RABA (Rapid Agro-Biodiversity Appraisal), PaLA (Participatory Landscape Appraisal), RMA (Rapid Market Appraisal) and RaTA (Rapid land Tenure Appraisal) was organised by MOSCAT and conducted in Cagayan de Oro, Claveria from 9-13 June 2008. The participants came from Kalahan in Luzon, and Lantapan and Claveria in Mindanao. Additional staff members came from ICRAF Philippines and Vietnam, DENR Region X, LGU-Bukidnon/BENRO, MOSCAT and SUCs-PAFERN. A total of 39 participants and speakers attended: five resource speakers from ICRAF; four trainees from Kalahan; two from Lantapan; four from MOSCAT; five from BENRO; two from LGU-Claveria; five from DENR; four from ICRAF Philippines; and, eight from external SUCs and other agencies. Among the four rapid appraisal tools introduced, three were practised in the field: RABA, RMA and PaLA.
Specifically, the training aimed to introduce the other TUL-SEA tools for Integrated Natural Resource Management, discuss the principles and approaches of the PaLA, RABA and RMA in addressing issues related to integrated natural resource management, undertake hands-on activities for the above tools, and present the mechanics of implementation per project site.
