The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.

Graduado em engenharia ambiental com ampla experiência na gestão de projetos socioambientais baseados em pesquisa. Trabalhou como consultor e pesquisador profissional com instituições governamentais e não governamentais, incluindo o Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada - IPEA, WWF-Brasil, The Nature Conservancy - TNC, Instituto Sociedade População e Natureza - ISPN, World Agroforestry - ICRAF e outros. Tem experiência em pesquisas envolvendo Sistemas Agroflorestais, projetos de restauração de áreas degradadas e restauração ecológica, análise de políticas nacionais de vegetação nativa, estudos de eficácia de manejo de áreas protegidas, viabilidade financeira de sistemas agroflorestais, bem como trabalho com análise espacial e treinamento participativo em agroflorestas baseado em estudos de contexto rural e diagnósticos socioambientais. Atualmente é Oficial de Programas do ICRAF no Brasil, onde colabora na implementação de programas de pesquisa e desenvolvimento com a estratégia de ganho escala para Sistemas Agroflorestais no Brasil, visando a diversificação da produção na paisagem agrícola e restauração florestal ligando a ciência aos investimentos de impacto para o desenvolvimento rural.

Program officer
Henrique graduated in Environmental Engineering and has extensive experience in the management of research-based, socio-environmental projects. He has worked as a consultant and professional researcher with governmental and non-governmental institutions, including the Institute of Applied Economic Research, WWF Brazil, The Nature Conservancy and Instituto Sociedade População e Natureza. He has experience in research into agroforestry systems, restoration projects of degraded areas and ecological restoration, analysis of national policies for native vegetation, management effectiveness studies of protected areas, and financial feasibility of agroforestry systems, as well as with spatial analysis and participatory training in agroforestry based on rural context studies and socio-environmental diagnostics. Currently, he is a program officer with ICRAF Brazil, where he collaborates in the implementation of research and development programs under the strategy of increasing the scale of agroforestry systems in Brazil. This strategy aims for the diversification of production in agricultural landscapes and forest restoration, linking science to impact investments for rural development .

The main objective is to build a public–private partnership for restoration through agroforestry systems with cocoa and active restoration for carbon sequestration.
