TransVic - Activities
TransVic had five focal areas of activity:- Soil Characterization
Nyando Basin soils were classified in terms of erosion. Sediment cores extracted from the lakebed and Nyando rivermouth were used to calibrate the spectral features of soil. - Networking
TransVic worked with several Collaborators to complement its work. - Training of Extension Staff
Staff from the ministries of Agriculture and Livestock Development were been trained in participatory monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). - Towards a shared vision — Joining hands on Lake Victoria
A five-day traveling workshop was held in September 2003 to map out ways for an integrated inter-institutional approach to research and development in the Lake Victoria Basin. - Research projects for graduates and post-graduate students
A large number of post-graduate students undertook research in conjunction with the project.
