The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
ICRAF’s activities in Myanmar focus on capacity building in agroforestry, sustainable land management, land restoration, land use planning, climate change resilience and improvement of value chains. The organization is involved in building linkages to various regional and international agreements, including nationally determined contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, through the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), REDD+ readiness. We are specifically providing support to a roadmap for agroforestry development and assisting with implementation of the ASEAN Guidelines for Agroforestry Development.
Key partners include the Government — particularly, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and the Ministry of Nature Conservation and Environment — and smallholder farmers.
