World Agroforestry activities in Uganda seek to develop options for halting and reversing land degradation and scaling up sustainable land management practices in fragile and high-risk areas. This is in line with the country’s agricultural sector development strategy and investment plan, as well as the strategic investment framework for sustainable land management.

The organization contributes to Uganda’s Vision 2040 by promoting options and providing policy guidance on restoration of degraded lands through integration of trees on farms.

ICRAF launched its operations in Uganda in 1988 in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Council under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). An agreement was signed between ICRAF and the Government of the Republic of Uganda through the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) in 1994.

In the past 30 years, the activities of ICRAF and various national partners have had a positive impact on various target groups.
