The ICRAF Viet Nam Program was established in 2005.
We work with national partners, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, research institutes, universities and NGOs, as well as international partners.
Much of our effort has focused on the rugged northwest and northeast, where we have developed agroforestry systems to restore severely degraded landscapes and improve farmers' livelihoods.
We also work in the north-central, central and southern regions of the nation on various projects from biodiversity research through to commodity improvement programs.
As a central repository of information on agroforestry in Viet Nam, we have created the Spatially Characterized Agroforestry (SCAF) Database.
The collected data includes information about agroforestry systems throughout the country; system components (tree, crop and livestock combinations); biophysical conditions; socioeconomic situation; market information; policies and regulations; challenges and risks.
