The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is the foremost inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all. The Committee reports to the UN General Assembly through the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and to FAO Conference. Find out more here.

VIII Agroecological and other Innovative Approaches
The HLPE Report on “Agroecological and Other Innovative Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems that Enhance Food Security and Nutrition” is the basis of this session. The objective to discuss the policy relevant findings and recommendations of the report and give guidance on the issues to be addressed during the CFS policy convergence process that will start at CFS 46.

Agroforestry - an agroecological pathway to SDG2
Hosted by CGIAR Research Programme on Forests Trees and Agroforestry, Swedish International Agricultural Network Initiative (SIANI) and VI Agroforestry Network
Agroforestry can deliver benefits at local and global level, offering a range of exemplary systems by which agriculture can concretely show its contribution to SDG2 on food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture, as well as to a range of other objectives. This event will gather a multi-stakeholder panel to discuss, in the perspective of the HLPE report and the recommendations of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), the opportunities, but also challenges, to scale-up agroforestry.
