The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
Moving to low-carbon and climate resilient development is being aided by South-South cooperation, said Helen Clark, administrator of the United Nation Development and Programme (UNDP) during a high-level seminar Addressing Climate Change in South-South Cooperation during the UN climate talks in Poland.
Progressive China reports on how Clark praised China’s agricultural sector for its advances in erosion control, agroforestry and other innovations which are resulting in productivity increases, ecosystem restoration and building greater resilience to the threat of floods and droughts. The South is developing low-carbon technologies and innovation, said Clark.
She spoke of China’s willingness to share its experiences with other developing nations and how South-South cooperation is helping countries to shape their own, nationally appropriate paths to sustainable and inclusive development.
