The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
Showcasing, sharing and scaling up innovative local solutions to global problems will be the focus of a forum to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 28 October to 1 November 2013.
The annual Global South-South Development Expo will include a TEDx Talk to be held at the World Agroforestry Centre’s headquarters. Titled: ‘The City Rebooted’, the talk will explore how large cities – especially those in the developing world – can be refreshed and made stronger in ways that create bridges across the urban-rural divide, reduce conflicts over shared resources and support vulnerable communities.
Other events include a leadership round table, forums on ecological civilization and environment and poverty eradication, and the Expo Pavilion with 70 exhibitors.
The Expo is expected to attract over 1,000 participants including heads of State and government ministers, and involves more than 20 UN agencies.
