The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
Fergus Sinclair, Constance Neely and Leigh Winowiecki were invited by the European Commission to participate in an expert discussion on the state of play of the EU-Africa Research & Innovation Partnership on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture – FNSSA. Read more on FNSSA here

The main objective was to further develop the FNSSA priority themes with a view to contribute to Horizon 2020 work programme 2018-2020. The global participants highlighted challenges and potential solutions for Sustainable Agricultural Intensification (SAI) and identify key gaps in knowledge. The ICRAF team presented key researchable issues, including lessons already learned from the ICRAF-led SAIRLA project. View the presentation here:
