The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
On 17 January 2017 at the Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi Kenya, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Nature Conservancy to support the Upper Tana-Nairobi Water Fund.
The fund which is also supported by IFAD primarily aims to "protect the Tana River, increase downstream water quality and quantity and provide positive benefits for tens of thousands of farmers in the watershed." http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/regions/africa/explore/nairobi-water-fund.xml
According to Leigh Winowiecki, Soil Systems Scientist, ICRAF will help to support the assessment of land degradation in the Upper Tana Watershed.
