The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.
As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the journal Landscape and Urban Planning is offering readers free access to 20 highly rated articles, gathered into a Virtual Special Issue.
The research and review articles span the period 1982-2014 and cover a broad range of topics on landscapes, from the relationship between green spaces and human health and wellbeing; the role of urban parks for sustainable cities; biodiversity concepts and urban ecosystems; and ‘Polyscape,’ a GIS mapping framework that provides landscape-scale valuation of multiple ecosystem services.
The GIS paper is co-authored by Dr. Fergus Sinclair, Agroforestry Systems research leader at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and researcher with Bangor University.
“We proudly offer readers free access to 20 top recent and classic articles that exemplify the journal’s longstanding commitment to advancing international scholarship in landscape science,” says the introduction to the special issue of the Elsevier journal.
