The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) joined forces in 2019, leveraging a combined 65 years’ experience in research on the role of forests and trees in solving critical global challenges.

It is with profound grief and sadness that management, board and entire staff of Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) announce the sudden demise of our dear colleague and friend, Mehmood Ul Hassan, Muhammad who passed away on Friday, 20th March 2020 in MP Shah Hospital.
Mehmood joined ICRAF in October 2012, as Head of Capacity Development based at our Headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi.
His many contributions, sharp mind, warmth and sense of humour, will be deeply missed. Mehmood had a very calm, professional and supportive style that made him very effective and popular with partners and students, with specific mention of the African Orphan Crops Consortium and the African Plant Breeding Academy, led by UC Davis.
We offer our deepest condolences to his wife Balqis, his three daughters (Beenish, Sidra and Sana) and the rest of the larger family and we assure them of our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
Mehmood, may your soul rest in eternal peace.
Colleagues and friends are invited post their tributes here https://www.forevermissed.com/mehmood-hassan-muhammad/about
