Until recently, Niger has tended to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. One of the poorest places in the world, with a low life expectancy, high infant mortality and meagre public services, it has suffered from frequent droughts, crop failures and malnutrition.
The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is a centre of scientific excellence possessing the world’s largest repository of agroforestry science and information. Our vision is an equitable world where all people have viable livelihoods supported by healthy and productive landscapes. The Centre generates science-based knowledge about the diverse roles that trees play in agricultural landscapes, and uses its research to advance policies and practices, and their implementation that benefit the poor and the environment.
