Ary Sudijanto is the Director-General of the Agency for Standardization of Environment and Forestry Instruments (ASEFI) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) - Indonesia. Since 2021, he is leading standardization for opportunities for better environmental management which contribute to Indonesia’s overall competitiveness in reducing environmental and forestry risks, making investments more sustainable, and facilitating efficient and transparent investment processing. He ensures the strengthened Environmental and forestry standardization  will work properly, put environment and forestry safeguard in place. He also enhances the testing laboratories well upgraded and maintained for providing accurate value of  environment and forestry quality.

He has 29 years of experience starting as an environmental engineering consultant, then he served as an official supervised a hazardous waste management, and pollution control of the manufacturing trade and services sectors. Since 2008 up to 2021 Ary serves as a director for environmental impact control and prevention at the MoEF who handled Environmental Impact Assessment in Indonesia.

Ary holds a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Since 1993, Ary has taken part in various national and international courses related to the environment. Some of them are the Integrating Climate Change into Environmental Impact Assessment organized by the International Association Impact Assessment (IAIA), Environmental Law Course organized by Van Vollenhoven Institute, Leiden University, Metro Institute, Maastricht University, as well as various hazardous waste management courses and air pollution.

As the Leader of ASEFI, Ary is assigned as the national focal point (NFP) of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Environment (ASOEN) forum, namely as ASOEN Chair Indonesia, in addition to the NFP of the ASEAN Working Group on Forest Product Development (AWGFPD), Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) forums. 

Regarding reducing greenhouse gas emissions to control climate change through the "Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink 2030" program, Ary is responsible as a member of the program's Steering Team. The steering team plays guiding the implementation, policy directions, problem-solving, policy development, and innovation in Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink 2030
